Although Dixon Place is only half way through the 21st Annual HOT! Festival, we wanted something new to fill up the hot days of August so we decided LET'S DO MUSIC! In a matter of only a few weeks, we've booked a talented roster of new and established local musicians for the First Annual Lower East Side Music Festival. Our idea seems to be something of a movement in our developmental theater world as Ars Nova, one of our uptown theater friend, had the same idea. Trend story? Maybe. Smaller theatrical venues that are usually rented out in the summer for various one-off events or the NYC Fringe Festival are choosing to morph into music venues during late summer. Dixon Place has been programming more musicians year round in both our casual lounge and on the main stage and our fancy equipment and acoustics makes us a perfect venue to position ourselves in the music world. We have also been working with many musicians who have lost their long-time downtown homes with the closing this year of many beloved music-centric venues.

The LES Music Festival includes jazz, folk, pop/rock, R&B/soul, indie, and alternative classical Sundays and the schedule is still growing. Please look over the attached press release and help us keep music alive on the Lower East Side and support us by helping us spread the word about this nascent festival. Like all of our performances, we are keeping the admission low and the beer and cocktails cold and cheap. We're even giving the first 25 people who check in every night a free PBR to kickstart their night.
