Four-time Emmy award winning director and puppeteer Frank Oz will give a post-screening Q&A session at the Schimmel Center at Pace University's Halloween screening of the rarely seen Director's Cut of the cult class 1986 musical film he directed, Little Shop of Horrors on Tuesday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Oz-known for his creative collaborations with Jim Henson performing many Muppet characters, in addition to performing the Jedi Master, Yoda, in all of the Star Wars films, and directing films such as The Muppets Take Manhattan, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Indian in the Cupboard, In and Out, The Score, and Stepford Wives-will answer questions about directing and the film industry, and will give insider insights into the history behind the alternate ending.
Pre-screening activities, including a costume contest with prizes, music and cash bar for 21+ begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Schimmel Center lobby.
The iconic film stars Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene, Vincent Gardenia, John Candy, and Steve Martin, and tells the story of meek flower shop assistant Seymour who pines for his co-worker Audrey. During a total eclipse, Seymour discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood, and attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After a feeding accident gone wrong, Seymour must come up with more creative ways to feed the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.
