Deuce Tickets Go On Sale January 27

Tickets go on sale on Saturday, January 27th for DEUCE at Telecharge.com. The Box Office of the Music Box Theatre will open on Monday, January 29th.

Deuce is a world premiere play by four-time Tony Award® winner Terrence McNally, which will welcome four-time Tony Award® winner Angela Lansbury back to Broadway for the first time in almost 25 years. Ms. Lansbury stars with Tony Award®-winner Marian Seldes in the production, which is directed by two-time Tony Award®-winner Michael Blakemore.

DEUCE will open on Sunday, May 6th at the Music Box Theatre. Previews begin Monday, April 16th. The production will play a strictly limited engagement of 18 weeks.

Ms. Lansbury and Ms. Seldes star in DEUCE as two former doubles tennis legends, reunited at a championship match, in Mr. McNally's warmly funny and unexpectedly moving new play.

In her 60-plus year career on stage, film and television, Ms. Lansbury received four Tony Awards® for her starring roles in Mame, Dear World, Gypsy and Sweeney Todd, three Academy Award® nominations for Gaslight (her screen debut), The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Manchurian Candidate, and 18 Emmy Award® nominations, including 12 for her long-running television series, "Murder, She Wrote."

Ms. Seldes won a Tony® for A Delicate Balance, and has been nominated for her performances in Father's Day, Deathtrap, Ring Round the Moon, and Dinner at Eight. Last season, she earned rave reviews for her performance in Mr. McNally's Dedication, or the Stuff of Dreams.

Mr. McNally has won Tony Awards® for his plays, Love! Valour! Compassion! and Master Class, and for his books for the musicals, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Ragtime. Mr. Blakemore won Tony Awards® in the same year for his direction of the play, Copenhagen, and the musical, Kiss Me Kate.

DEUCE will be produced on Broadway by Scott Rudin, Stuart Thompson, Maberry Theatricals, The Shubert Organization, Roger Berlind, Debra Black, Bob Boyett, Susan Dietz and Daryl Roth.

BIOGRAPHIES

Angela Lansbury is a four-time Tony Award® winner for her starring roles in the musicals Mame, Dear World, Gypsy and Sweeney Todd. Her other Broadway credits include Anyone Can Whistle, The King and I, A Taste of Honey and Hotel Paradiso, in which she made her Broadway debut in 1957. She is a three-time Academy Award® nominee for the films Gaslight (her first film), The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Manchurian Candidate. During a 60-year career in Hollywood, she was also seen in National Velvet, The Harvey Girls, The Three Musketeers, The Long, Hot Summer, The Greatest Story Ever Told, Something for Everyone, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Death on the Nile, The Mirror Crack'd, The Pirates of Penzance and Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast (voicing the character of Mrs. Potts). For her television work, she has received 18 Emmy® Award nominations, including 12 for the hit mystery show, "Murder, She Wrote," for which she also earned four Golden Globe Awards.

Marian Seldes recently starred to critical acclaim in McNally's Dedication, or the Stuff of Dreams. Her many Broadway credits include 45 Seconds From Broadway, Deathtrap, The Merchant, Equus, Father's Day (Tony® nomination, Drama Desk Award), Before You Go, A Delicate Balance (Tony Award®), Tiny Alice, The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore, A Gift of Time, The Wall, The Chalk Garden, Ondine, The High Ground, The Tower Beyond Tragedy, That Lady, Crime and Punishment, Medea. For Lincoln Center Theatre, she has appeared in Dinner at Eight, Ring Round the Moon (Tony® nominations) and Ivanov. Her Off-Broadway credits include The Ginger Man (Obie), Isadora Duncan (Obie), Painting Churches (Outer Critics Circle Award), Richard II, Richard III, Mercy Street, Dear Liar, A Bright Room Called Day, Three Tall Women, The Torch-Bearers, The Butterfly Collection, The Play About the Baby, Helen and Play Yourself.

Terrence McNally (Playwright) has won four Tony Awards®, for his books for the musicals Ragtime and Kiss of the Spider Woman, and for his plays, Master Class and Love! Valour! Compassion! His recent work includes Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams and The Stendhal Syndrome, both at Primary Stages; Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life on Broadway; A Man of No Importance (book) at Lincoln Center Theater and The Full Monty (book). His other plays include Corpus Christi; A Perfect Ganesh; Lips Together, Teeth Apart; The Lisbon Traviata; Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune; and It's Only a Play, all of which began at the Manhattan Theatre Club. Earlier stage works include Bad Habits, The Ritz, Where Has Tommy Flowers Gone?, And Things That Go Bump in the Night, Next and the book for the musical The Rink. For San Francisco Opera he wrote the libretto for an opera based on Sister Helen Prejean's Dead Man Walking, with music by Jake Heggie. Mr. McNally has written a number of TV scripts, including "Andre's Mother," for which he won an Emmy.

Michael Blakemore (Director) is the only director ever to win Tony Awards® for both a play, Copenhagen, and a musical, Kiss Me, Kate in the same year. Other accolades include three Drama Desk Awards and Tony® nominations for Joe Egg, Noises Off, City of Angels, Lettice and Lovage and The Life. He was most recently represented on Broadway with the critically acclaimed Democracy, which he first staged for The National Theatre of Great Britain. In England, he was Laurence Olivier's associate at The National Theatre and directed him in Long Day's Journey Into Night. For the RSC, he directed Privates on Parade (also the film). The most recent of his many West End successes was Three Sisters. He has written and directed two films, Country Life and A Personal History of the Australian Surf, and his novel, Next Season (1968), is still in print. His memoir, Arguments with England, was recently published.
