Des McAnuff to Appear in ROCKERS ON BROADWAY Concert, 10/31

The Path Fund, Inc. has just announced that two-time Tony Award winning director Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, The Who's Tommy) has joined the cast of "ROCKERS ON BROADWAY - HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR", the latest edition of Broadway's favorite benefit Rock and Roll concert series will take place on Monday October 31st at the Midtown Theatre at the HA! Comedy Club (163 West 46th Street, NYC) with shows at 7PM and 10PM. Proceeds will benefit The Broadway Dreams Foundation, Broadway in South Africa and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

"Having Des perform with us brings the Rockers on Broadway back to its roots" said Rockers founder Donnie Kehr who staged the first Rockers on Broadway concert in 1993 when he was a member of the cast of The Who's Tommy directed by McAnuff. "Des and Pete Townshend wanted that play's performers to experience the feeling of singing with a rock band in a concert style venue, and to transfer the rawness of that edge to the stage." The result was the first Rockers on Broadway benefit concert. Almost twenty years and eighteen editions later, the Rockers on Broadway concert series has raised over $100,000 for charity. The latest edition "ROCKERS ON BROADWAY - HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR" will be an evening of macabre themed rock classics that run the gamut from "Witchcraft" to "Thriller" to "Time Warp" with a few other surprises thrown in.

McAnuff who will be performing the Rolling Stones classic "Sympathy for the Devil" will share the stage with former cast members from The Who's Tommy Donnie Kehr (Jersey Boys) and Cheryl Freeman (The Civil War) who will reprise her show stopping "The Acid Queen." Joining them on stage will be an all-star line up of Broadway favorites including Tony Award winners Jarrod Emick (Damn Yankees) and Wilson Jermaine Heredia (RENT), Billy Porter (Angels in America, Ghetto Superstar) and Gerry McIntyre (Once on this Island), Felicia Finley (The Wedding Singer), Jeremy Schonfeld (Clear Blue Tuesday), Emma Hunton (Next to Normal), Michael Lanning (Bonnie & Clyde), Delisco James (Aida) Ben Cameron (Wicked), Alena Watters (Sister Act), Brandon Wardell (Catch Me If You Can) Eric Michael Krop (Godspell), Dustin Brayley (RENT), Margaret Kelly (Les Miserables), Steve Gouviea (Jersey Boys), The Broadway Dolls with special appearances by Randy Jones (The Village People) and Tommy Byrnes (Billy Joel Band member). Each performance will also include a costume contest presided over by a panel of all-star judges. The evening will be directed by Rockers on Broadway founder Donnie Kehr (Jersey Boys, Billy Elliot) with musical direction by Joe church (The Lion King, The Who's Tommy)

Rockers on Broadway, now in its 18th year, was founded by Donnie Kehr while appearing in the Broadway run of The Who's Tommy and was inspired by Pete Townshend, who wanted the play's performers to experience the feeling of singing with a rock band in a concert style venue, and to transfer the rawness of that edge to the stage.

The PATH Fund, Inc. (Performing Artists That Help) was formed as a result of the success of Rockers on Broadway and aims to give artists of all kinds an avenue to share their unique talents while helping raise money for charities that benefit the arts and entertainment communities that inspire their livelihood. PATH is an official 501c3 and in recent years has donated over $100,000 to its charities.

Rockers' is presented by The Path Fund Inc. And all proceeds from this event will go to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Broadway Dreams Foundation, Broadway in South Africa other Arts Education Charities. Through their education and performance programs, Broadway Dreams Foundation works to brighten the future of young talent and brings young performers closer to their Broadway dreams, regardless of financial status. Broadway in South Africa aims to develop a cross-cultural exchange between youth in need and artists who seek to use their talents for change.
