Oscar-nominee Debra Winger take part in 20 Greene Gallery's The Pod Project.  The performance/installation will be presented from January 13th through February 11th, 2007.

The Pod Project, which is created and directed by Nancy Bannon, will also feature Bob Moss, Marc Kenison, Stephanie Liapis, Risa Steinberg, Arnie Apostol, Keith Johnson, Megan Brunsvold, Tricia Nelson, Jennifer Gillespie, Rick Meese, Jose Souto, Netta Yerushalmy, Ryan Corriston and Lily Fischer.

According to press notes, the project consists "of 13 private, one-on-one performances housed within 13 sculpted spaces. The viewer actually enters the performance environment and experiences a one-on-one exchange in unconventional proximity. The interiors of the sculptures/ pods are personalized. Crossing the threshold, we pop into: a dentist's office, a mountaintop ski-lift, a cocoon, a snowglobe, a shower, etc. The scene content, ranging from highly interactive to resolvedly voyeuristic, is original and diverse.

Opening the door to a chamber you may find: a woman with her back to you listing what she doesn't want you to know; a sleeping man, a tiny door in the wall and through the tiny door, a hillside of glistening white sheep; a waitress playing 'Die Valkyrie' on water glasses; a man hovering silently off the ground; a woman behind a table of wigs asking you which one you'd like to see her wear first; or a bespectacled man in a melting caterpillar suit talking about how he needs something to look forward to. The lights fade and each viewer is guided to his next destination. This is an exciting evening of suspense and unusual encounters."

Produced by Bannon and Tony Award-winner Brian MacDevitt (The Vertical Hour, The Color Purple), the event will also feature lighting design by MacDevitt and costumes by Ilona Somogyi.

Winger has received Oscar nominations for her work in An Officer and a Gentleman, Terms of Endearment and Shadowlands.  Other film work includes Forget Paris, A Dangerous Woman, Leap of Faith, The Sheltering Sky and Urban Cowboy.  She appeared Off-Broadway in The Exonerated.

20 Greene Gallery is located at 20 Greene St. between Canal and Grand Streets.  Visit www.BrownPaperTickets.com for tickets and more information.
