Celebrated cabaret performer Jamie DeRoy will continue the monthly series of Wednesday evenings of her Multi MAC Award-winning variety show, "Jamie DeRoy & friends," on Wednesday, June 28th (7:30PM) at the New York hotspot The Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street Between 5th & 6th Avenues). The series of summer Wednesdays will conclude on July 26th at 7:30PM.
The event will feature the following artists: New York magician and mentalist The Amazing Christopher; Hairspray's Mary Bond Davis; the multi MAC Award-winning comedienne Judy Gold; Tony Award-winning singer-songwriter Carol Hall (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas); crooner Cary Hoffman; and Broadway's Alice Playten (Caroline, or Change, Henry, Sweet Henry). Barry Kleinbort serves as the director of "Jamie DeRoy & friends," and Lanny Meyers serves as musical director."The
colorful cabaret series, which has been thrilling New York City
audiences for the past 15 years and serves as the basis for deRoy's
award-winning cable television show, spotlights a wide variety of
well-known entertainers and newcomers lighting up the cabaret, theater,
and comedy worlds," according to press notes.deRoy has won
eight MAC Awards, four Back Stage Bistro Awards, nine Telly Awards and
CaB Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award for her extensive work on
both stage and screen. Shehas appeared onstage with Joan Rivers and has headlined at many of New York's major clubs. deRoy has produced seven CDs in the Jamie DeRoy & friends series on the Harbinger label. Her theatre producing credits include Broadway's Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life; Say Goodnight, Gracie, and the off-Broadway shows Terrance McNally's Dedication or The Stuff of Dreams and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). In addition, she will be producing A.R. Gurney's new play Indian Blood at Primary Stages this summer.
Her TV and film producing credits include the Emmy-nominated "The Biggest Little Operas in Town" for Channel 13 and Rick McKay's
documentary Broadway: The Golden Age. Her acting credits include
appearances on the television shows "Alice," "Spiderman" and "Knight
Rider," and in the films GoodFellas, Raging Bull, See No Evil Hear No Evil, and Married to It. Onstage, deRoy appeared with Rene Auberjonois in The Threepenny Opera, as well as in The Drunkard with musical direction by Barry Manilow."Jamie DeRoy
