David Zwirner will participate in this year's Art Cologne (Hall 11.3, Aisle B-018) to be held at the Cologne Exhibition Center (Koelnmesse).

David Zwirner will be showing a range of work, with a focus on German artists, including gallery artists Isa Genzken, Neo Rauch, Daniel Richter, and Thomas Ruff. The Frankfurt-based artist Michael Riedel will be in attendance and debut new works: a continuation of his Poster Paintings and Powerpoint Paintings in the medium of silkscreens on honeycomb panels.

Also presented will be a selection of works from the Helga and Walther Lauffs Collection, one of Europe's most important private collections of 20th century post-war art, comprising key examples of Pop Art, Arte Povera, Minimalism, Post-Minimalism, and Conceptual Art. On view will be a significant work by Yves Klein, Peinture de feu sans titre (F 92)/(Untitled Fire Painting [F 92]) from 1961; a 16-part work by Hanne Darboven from 1975; a stone sculpture by Ulrich Rückriem from 1968-1969; and a series of drawings by Joseph Beuys from 1956-1957. (Though not from the Lauffs Collection, another significant work by Beuys made from his signature materials margarine and felt, Aus dem Maschinenraum, Anhänger (From the Machine Room, Trailer), 1977, will be on view.)

The Lauffs built their collection over the course of the late 1960s through the 1970s with the guidance of curator and art historian Paul Wember, who was known for the visionary program of contemporary art that he developed as the director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum in Krefeld between 1947 and 1975. In the rigorous and broad selection of the art of their times, they succeeded in building a collection that bridges the gap between European and American artistic sensibilities.

Also on view will be Alkoholfolter (1982) by Martin Kippenberger; "monument" for V. Tatlin (1964) an important flourescent light work by the American Minimalist artist Dan Flavin (1933-1996), whose estate is represented by David Zwirner; and works by other gallery artists, including photographs by Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Christopher Williams, and Stan Douglas's latest body of work, Disco Angola.
