With France legalizing gay marriages and the U.S Supreme Court striking down Proposition 8, gay couples around the world are celebrating and declaring their love. In his book, "Death in Dibba" (published by AuthorHouse), author David Smith presents a gay hero who overcomes all prejudices for the man he loves.

"The story is fast-moving, funny and at times brutal with a backdrop of the unstable politics of the Gulf," says Smith.

"Death in Dibba" is a romantic thriller where love conquers all. "It is a gay love story set in the magnificent scenery of Dubai, Sharjah and Oman," explains Smith. "The heroes, one English and the other Indian, cut through race and gender barriers to demonstrate that love and bravery are universal and multi-faceted."

The novel features unique character such as the gay hero, Alex, and an outrageous Filipino drag queen. "Gayness crosses all barriers of race, color and class," says Smith. "People are coming out all over the world and they need to know they are not alone."

While Smith looks forward to entertaining his readers, he also hopes readers gain a grander message. "I would like to see homosexuality as just another facet to our human condition and not an 'illness' as some sections of society seem to prefer."
