Australian mega-star and popular cabaret and concert performer David Campbell discusses his new songwriter-focused solo album as part of a new interview.
Campbell is preparing to release DAVID CAMPBELL SINGS JOHN BUCCHINO later this year and sheds some light on his inspiration behind turning the focus entirely onto the accomplished composer/lyricist.
Campbell shares, "John's stuff is very story telling."
"It is very intimate. He is an incredible piano player and it is sort of like Stephen Sondheim meets Stevie Wonder with Jimmy Webb lyrics," Campell reveals of his impressions of the songwriter.
"It is very personal and feel-good," he says of the album.
As for his recent lack of touring and performing, Bucchino accredits it to being a father of a young son.
"I really wanted to focus on Leo. These years before he started school, I'm not going to get them back," Campbell relates.
Campbell concludes, "I didn't want to miss that. I feel very lucky to have had this time with him."
