David Allen Jones is the 2018 Recipient Of Actors' Equity Foundation Michael McCarty Recognition Award  ImageDavid Allen Jones has been named the recipient of the second annual Michael McCarty Recognition Award.

The award will be presented at Actors' Equity Association's offices on Tujunga Blvd on Monday January 29, 2018 at 3:30 pm.

This award is intended for a working actor who has made a life in the theatre. Michael McCarty, a veteran Equity actor who died in 2015 in Santa Barbara at the age of 68, left a portion of his estate to establish an award to be presented annually by the Actors Equity Foundation to a stage actor over the age of 50 residing in Los Angeles.

David Allen Jones was born last century in Louisiana, grew up in Texas and graduated from Baylor University with a degree in theatre. After college he toured for a year with National Players Touring Company out of Washington, D.C.; then he moved to NYC and later relocated to Los Angeles, where he has lived since 1975. He became a member of Actors' Equity Association in 1969, and has worked under most of Equity's contract categories. From Theatre for Young Audiences to Dinner Theatre, Guest Artist, LORT, SPT, Production (with Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway), Special Appearance, WCLO, HAT, URTA, COST and other initialisms. Shakespeare to Samuel Beckett to Neil Simon, Rodgers and Hammerstein to Bock and Harnick to Sondheim - and beyond - across the country. The stage has always been home.

Nominations are accepted through the Actors' Equity Foundation website for this award January 1 through August 31st of each year.A committee comprised of Actors' Equity Councillors and Los Angeles area industry professionals select each year's winner.

The Actors Equity Foundation is a philanthropic and humanitarian nonprofit organization created in 1962 to aid and assist members of the acting profession and to promote the theatre arts. It is separate from Actors Equity Association and is funded by estate bequests and individual donations.
