Darryl Schneider's CLEAN BREAK Gets Second NYC Reading, 6/1

Buffalo playwright and RLTP Ensemble Member Darryl Schneider's Artie award-winning play Clean Break will receive a reading at New York's prestigious Barrow Group Theatre Company. The reading is scheduled for Sunday, June 1st, 2014, at 7 PM.

This is the second time since Clean Break premiered at Buffalo's Road Less Traveled Theater in early 2012 that it has been showcased in a public reading at a New York City theater. The play was also presented at NYC's Urban Stages on August 6th, 2013, in a reading that featured John Fredo and Andrea Andolina, the stars of the RLTP debut production. Schneider, RLTP Artistic Director Scott Behrend, and many WNY theatre fans attended the August 2013 event.

The Barrow Group recently announced that its June '14 reading would feature actor Stephen Singer as "Bruce", the role originated by John Fredo; further casting and director information will be announced shortly.

The Barrow Group's website describes Clean Break as the story of Lisa Di Cenzio, who "grew up in a world of chaos created by the gambling addiction of her father, Bruce. Now that she is grown, she routinely gives Bruce money, pays his debts, gets him lawyers and makes his problems go away. But this time Bruce has gone too far. He has been caught on tape stealing from his latest job-- at a company owned by Lisa's boyfriend. So this time Lisa has a new plan. She has arranged for Bruce to move to Florida. And if he doesn't want to go, he can go to prison instead."

The Barrow Group's Reading Series has previously contributed to the development of such high-profile projects as Keith Huff's A Steady Rain and both Sleepwalk With Me and My Boyfriend's Girlfriend by Mike Birbiglia.
