Daniel Craig To Lead NYTW's One-Night-Only Reading Of Caryl Churchill's A NUMBER Image

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced that they will present a special one-night-only reading of A Number, by NYTW Usual Suspect and five-time Obie Award winner Caryl Churchill (Love and Information; A Number), directed by NYTW Usual Suspect and Tony Award winner Sam Gold (Fun Home, Othello) and featuring Daniel Craig (Othello, Spectre). The reading will benefit NYTW's Artist Workshop and Education programming and will take place at New York Theatre Workshop (79 East 4th Street) Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 7pm.

For almost three decades, NYTW has been an American home for one of theatre's most important voices, Caryl Churchill, with eight fruitful collaborations including the American Premiere of A Number in 2004. Daniel Craig originated the role of Bernard 1, Bernard 2, and Michael Black in the World Premiere production at the Royal Court in 2002. This one-night-only event reunites Craig and director Sam Gold after the sold-out run of Othello at NYTW in 2016. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

A Number is part of a year-long celebration of New York Theatre Workshop's 40th Anniversary, featuring a variety of events honoring the past and celebrating the future of a community dedicated to helping us all better understand our world through theatre. This one-night-only reading is the latest in a slate of events including a RENT Live watch-party, NYTW's 40th Anniversary Gala honoring NYTW Founding Trustee Stephen Graham, and the upcoming #WorkshopNight to welcome Hadestown to Broadway on March 25th. Additional events will be announced throughout the year.

Tickets for the reading begin at $500 and can be purchased at NYTW.org and by phone at 212-460-5475.

NYTW is committed to making tickets available to every production via its CheapTix initiative. For this reading, NYTW will offer a block of $25 tickets via a CheapTix digital Lottery in partnership with TodayTix. TodayTix allows you to enter the digital Lottery via the app, available in the App Store or Google Play Store. The entry period will begin on Thursday, February 28 and continue through 12pm EST on Friday, March 8, when winners will be notified. Entrants may request 1 or 2 tickets, and entry in the digital Lottery is free and open to all. All entry rules apply.

Single tickets are available at NYTW.org and by phone at 212-460-5475. No in-person sales will be available at the box office. Tickets for the reading begin at $500 and standard ticketing fees apply to all orders. There will be a limit of 4 tickets per person for this event.

Currently in performances at New York Theatre Workshop is Hurricane Diane, by Pulitzer Prize finalist Madeleine George (The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence). Directed by Tony Award nominee, two-time Obie Award winner and NYTW Usual Suspect Leigh Silverman (Violet), Hurricane Diane began previews on Thursday, February 7, 2019, and opened Sunday, February 24, for an extended run through Sunday, March 24, 2019. The cast for Hurricane Diane includes Mia Barron (The Wolves), Michelle Beck (A Raisin in the Sun), Becca Blackwell (They, Themself and Schmerm), Danielle Skraastad (All My Sons), and Kate Wetherhead (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). Hurricane Diane is a co-production with WP Theater.
