Dallas Hub Theater & DFW Playwrights Alliance team up for 1st Annual 'Cyberfest'

The Dallas Hub Theater and the DFW Playwright's Alliance have teamed up for a new electronic play festival appropriately called "Cyberfest" that allows artists all over the world to participate and enjoy new plays using new technology.

Twenty-five member playwrights from as far as NYC, Philadelphia and local members submitted their names with 5 selected to write a play for the event.

After selections were made, the 5 directors scrambled to assemble casts and schedule rehearsals for the 5 world premieres via Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and mobile phones.

"Cyberfest" is set for this Fri. & Sat, May 29 and 30 at 8:15 pm at the Dallas Hub Theater, located at 2809 Canton St., Dallas, Texas. The shows can also be seen via webcast on Yahoo messenger by adding "dallashubwebcam" to your buddy list.

This year's shows include:

  • "Gender Specific", written by Mary Humphrey and directed by Joshua Bridgewater
  • "Love Potion #5: Tribal Musk", written by Donnie Wilson and directed by Atseko Factor
  • "The Wait", written by Tony Hawkins and directed by Matt Salter
  • "Almost Ithicaid", written by Troy Camplin and directed by Melissa Flower
  • "Cut Your Loss", written by Rosie Arrelle McGee and directed by TD Ballard
