After last weeks' shocking elimination of Shannen Doherty, the dancers on season 10 of "Dancing With the Stars" held their breath to see who would be the next to go. Buzz Aldrin, who received the lowest number of votes from the judges, was kicked off this week. Surprisingly, Jake Pavelka, who received a 21 from the judges, joined him in the bottom two.

The show got rolling as partners Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska and Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy found out right away that they were safe from the chopping block.

The judges then chose Evan and Anna to perform an encore performance of their quickstep routine- which was pretty predictable considering they received the highest scores from the judges last night. I was again impressed with Evan's flawless cartwheel.

Special guest star Reba McEntire performed a single from her album "Keep on Loving You." The performance was complete with 4 of the shows' dancers dressed as cowboys and cowgirls, and I'm sure they made many viewers agree with the name of McEntire's song, "I Want a Cowboy!"

Niecy Nash and Louis van Amstel then became the third team to find out that they were safe.

Next, Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, and Chelsea Hightower performed a "dramatic acoustic Pasa Doble." The musicians were amazing, as were Derek and Chelsea. That's how a Pasa Doble's done...I think.

Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough were the next couple to be able to breathe a sigh of relief-although Len, after explaining next weeks' "Double Score Showdown," dubbed Season 10 "season TENsion." Very clever, Len, very clever.

Reba McEntire then gave an enjoyable performance of her single "Consider Me Gone," before Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya and Chad Ochocino and Cheryl Burke found out they too were safe. So far so good, considering Aldrin and Gosselin, the lowest scoring from last night, are still in jeopardy of being booted.

Pamela Anderson and DamIan Whitewood, who were in the bottom two last week, were then told they were safe. Gosselin, Aldrin, and Pavelka are left to sweat it out.

After the commercial break things got serious, and Buzz Aldrin and Ashley Costa were sent to the bottom two along with Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower.

It was Aldrin's turn to go however, and America's scoring matched the judges as he was sent home. The patriotic and historic figure touched many people, and it was sad to see him go, but it was the right decision.

Some things worth mentioning:

  • Kate explained that she gave herself an "internal score" of "thumbs up" despite the dismal 15 from the judges.
  • Niecy, who will be performing a Rumba next week, said she is getting anxious to put her "jiggly parts" to use.
  • "It was the music's fault" that Nicole and Derek broke the rules last night.
  • Next week, Chad hopes to be "making love on the dance floor," despite Cheryl's lack of enthusiasm, and Tom Bergeron made a funny about the show being on pay-per-view next week.

All 9 teams showcase their fancy footwork on Mondays, at 8:00-10:00 PM. The couple with the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes for both performances will be sent home.

Viewers may cast their votes for their favorite teams via phone on Monday night during and up to 30 minutes after the "Dancing with the Stars" performance shows. AT&T customers may also text message their votes by texting the word "VOTE" and entering the number that corresponds to the team they want to support (message and data rates may apply). Viewers may also vote online at www.abc.com starting from the opening of each episode on the East Coast and until 12:00 Noon, ET the following day.

Hosted by Tom Bergeron ("America's Funniest Home Videos"), the celebrities perform choreographed dance routines which will be judged by renowned Ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba, who all return for their tenth season together.
