DSI Comedy Theater is set to welcome rising comedy stars Myq Kaplan (Last Comic Standing) and Zach Sherwin (Epic Rap Battles of History) to its new home at 462 W. Franklin Street for a one night only show, Thursday, August 14 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $14 are available at www.dsicomedy.com or by phone at 919-338-8150.
This hilarious evening will feature stand-up and rap. Kaplan, whose first name is pronounced Mike, was a 2010 Last Coming Standing Finalist. He has appeared on the Tonight Show, the Late Show with David Letterman, Comedy Central Presents, and Conan. He hosts a podcast, Hang Out With Me, on the Keith and The Girl network. His debut CD, Vegan Mind Meld, was one of iTunes' top ten best-selling comedy albums in 2010, followed by Meat Robot in 2013 and the upcoming Small Dork and Handsome.
Sherwin is a staff writer for the wildly popular Epic Rap Battles of History, which has over one billion YouTube views. He performs regularly in the videos and has appeared as Albert Einstein, Sherlock Holmes, and Doc Brown. He is both a comedian and rapper and is based in Los Angeles. His music videos have been viewed millions of time online, his album is available on Comedy Central Records, and he has appeared on MTV, VH1, and E!, as well as on FX's Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.
"A show with either Myq Kaplan or Zach Sherwin would be worth the price so I'm excited to see both in the same night, and I'm more than a little proud that the new DSI theater will be a stop on their summer tour," explains DSI Executive Producer Zach Ward. "Local audiences will definitely appreciate the smart writing both comics are known for, and high energy comedic rap that should be... Epic."
