Mike Birbiglia's DON'T THINK TWICE sold out dozens of showtimes this weekend, grossing $90,126 at New York's Landmark Sunshine. This ranks as the highest per screen average of 2016, besting Woody Allen's CAFE SOCIETY, and is one of the highest exclusive opening weekend per screen averages of all-time.

Released by The Film Arcade, DON'T THINK TWICE follows the hilarious and heartfelt ups and downs of an improv comedy troupe as they grapple with resentment and jealousy when only one of their members is cast on a long-running sketch-comedy TV show. The film - currently at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes - is produced by This American Life's Ira Glass and Cold Iron Pictures' Miranda Bailey and Amanda Marshall, and had its premiere at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year.

Notes The Film Arcade: "We could not be happier with the response of both critics and audiences. The energy at the Sunshine this weekend was electric and we look forward to bringing that same excitement for Mike's film to theaters across the country."

Mike Birbiglia says: "This whole thing is thrilling, and timely, because we actually think of ourselves as the Star Trek of movies about best friends in an improv group."

Continues Ira Glass: "I love that a movie without Vulcans, droids or talking fish can do this well with audiences."

Birbiglia directed and wrote the film, as well as stars in it alongside a team of comedy all-stars including Keegan-Michael Key (recently Emmy nominated for his work on "Key & Peele"), Gillian Jacobs (Netflix's "Love"), Kate Micucci (half of the beloved comedy duo Garfunkel & Oates), Tami Sagher (writer of "Girls" and "Inside Amy Schumer") and Chris Gethard ("The Chris Gethard Show").

DON'T THINK TWICE expands to Los Angeles and Chicago on July 29 and nationwide in August.
