DC Moore Gallery announces concurrent exhibits of Alexi  Worth: Show of  Hands and Barbara Takenaga: New Paintings. October 13 - November 12, 2011 Opening  Reception: Thursday, October 13, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

In our project space, DC Moore Gallery is pleased to present Alexi Worth's most recent paintings. Show of Hands is a group of nearly monochromatic up close images that revisit the artist's earlier themes in a new distinctively reinvented pictorial language. Abandoning oil paint in favor of sprayed pigment, Worth has created an idiom of stenciled layered shapes where the effects of frontal lighting are exaggerated and transformed.

On view concurrently will be Barbara Takenaga: New Paintings, an exhibition of recent works that pushes her established formal vocabulary in surprising directions. The new abstract paintings capture the expansiveness and mystery of both the cosmic and microscopic while also recalling patterns in nature.

Upcoming Exhibitions: Jane Wilson, Isabel Bishop and David Driskell

DC MOORE  GALLERY is located at 535 West 22nd Street, New York, NY 10011.
