Broadway performer and singer/songwriter D.C. Anderson, in association with LML Music, has announced the release of 'i am still,' his 7th CD.
'i am still,' which will be released on Tuesday, September 12, features 15 new songs in collaboration with musical director Steven Landau, Roy Zimmerman of the satirical folk group The Foremen, musical director David Robison,
Chicago songwriter Elizabeth Doyle, and actors Ritt Henn and Geoff Packard.
The CD includes the songs: "Maury," told from the perspective of a baby on a Maury Povich DNA show; "Madison Laughs," the story of a young girl labeled 'slow' and her Mother's reaction when she attracts the attention of a young man; "Jury Duty Girlfriend;" "i am still," in which a motel stands empty and decaying; "Hello Nancy, Goodby Ron," written in the days following Ronald Reagan's funeral; "I Least Expect You Now," a call to the attention of potential suitors, "Hard This Goodbye," and 8 more. The "spare acoustic arrangements" feature Steven Landau and David Robison on piano and Geoff Packard and Gannt Kushner on guitar.
D.C. Anderson has performed at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall and Don't Tell Mama in New York City, the Plush Room in San Francisco, Davenport's in
Chicago and the Gardenia and the Alex Theatre in Los Angeles. Broadway credits include
The Phantom of the Opera, while national tours include
Martin Guerre, The Phantom of the Opera, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby and
Pippin. Regionally, he has performed with Steppenwolf Theater Company of
Chicago and the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.
Anderson's next New York City appearance will be on Monday, December 4 at 9:30 in the Metropolitan Room.
