New York's Nerve Ensemble (a design-based ensemble of theater artists founded by Artistic Director Alyse Rothman in 2001) will present spam.show, a one night modern junk email spectacular, on Wednesday, November 15 at the Zipper Theater & Bar (336 W. 37th betw 8th & 9th).  Scheduled to perform are artists from across the spectrum of New York's performing arts scene from opera to Broadway, Flamenco dance to indie-rock.  The cash bar opens at 7:00, and the spam takes the stage at 8:30.

Among the scheduled contributors are Mark Adamo (resident composer at City Opera, Lysistrata),  Stephanie D'Abruzzo (Tony nominee for Avenue Q), Jeremy Shamos (Reckless and The Rivals), Everett Quinton (The Mystery of Irma Vep, Ridiculous Theatrical Co.), Saidah Arrika Ekulona (Well, The Thugs), Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers and Kinsey), Robert Kaplowitz (sound designer, The Internationalist, Dead City), as well as a Flamenco dancer, a live cooking demonstration, and a soloist on the musical saw.

The evening will also feature a sneak preview song from Nerve's upcoming Vegas Project by composer Lance Horne with choreography by Vegas veteran Tiger Martina (Movin' Out).

Nerve Ensemble Artistic Director Alyse Rothman and award-winning composer Lance Horne have long wanted to transform junk email into art, and as spam filters have recently become more sophisticated, the material has only gotten richer.  "It's in keeping with Nerve's mission to find something extraordinary in these prosaic, utterly ordinary parts of our lives," said Rothman.  "I'm excited to get lots of different creative takes on this irreverent material."  Participants were asked to choose a favorite spam email as a starting point, but from there were given free reign over the performance. "That's what I'm excited about," says Rothman, "With such a great range of talents, we're collectively transforming something extremely annoying into something hilarious and entertaining."

Tickets to spam.show are $25 and include a raffle ticket.  Puchase tickets through Telecharge at www.telecharge.com or (212) 239-6200.
