Eighteen actors and seven directors collaborate to present eight plays in one amazing night. The show titled, In the Darkness of Winter: A Medley of Thrilling Tales and Magical Memoirs features several intriguing one act plays by New York City playwright Michael Andrews, James Ferguson and Alex Broun. In the Darkness of Winter debuts this weekend, December 20th and December 21st at The Playroom Theater within the heart of New York City's theater district, Times Square
This event is presented by Blue Pearl Theatrics and Michael Andrews Productions. Blue Pearl Theatrics is an avant-garde theater company founded by actor/director Janelle Stein. "Part of being an artist is having the ability to envision ideas, and bring them to life. I want to create a haven where actors can network, explore their strengths and grow as performers," says Janelle.
The majority of the plays are written by Michael Andrews. Michael's experience ranges from Shakespeare to live sketch comedy shows. A veteran member of Le Wilhelm's Love Creek theater group, Michael continuously hones his skills as an actor, and playwright. Within the past year, he penned Sweet Jill, St Nicky, and Are You or Aren't You? among other works.
The production features a diverse group of professional actors from New York City, each with a unique talent and skill. In the Darkness of Winter highlights a variety of genres. The evening begins with intense pieces such as Daddy's Goin' Home, a drama about two sisters who come to grips with a horrible secret after the death of their father. The finale, St. Nicky is a comedy about a father and daughter who find an intruder in their home who claims to be THE Santa Claus...or is he?
