DANCE NYC Launches New Website dancenyc.org

 

Dance/NYC, a branch of Dance/USA, announces the launch of the organization's new website at www.dancenyc.org, created by Design Brooklyn and GellyWorks, which went live on April 23, 2010. The new design supports the organizations vision and commitment to serving New York's dance community.

The website's new features include:
* The Dance Map, powered by Google, allows artists, companies, presenters and studios from each of the five boroughs of New York City to place their organizations on the map. Users can search The Dance Map by borough or by type of dance organization;
* Personal user accounts where users can track listings, ads and information - and listings are free;
* Upgraded listing options with video and image capability;
* A new dance calendar to keep track of performances and events going on in NYC;
* Scrolling news section with the most up-to-date news from the dance community;
* RSS capability throughout the site;
* Review/Counter Critique where users can respond to dance reviews; and
* Resource Directories

In order to offer complete and correct listings, Dance/NYC is calling upon the dance community to create user accounts to load in their audition, job, performance, class, and other information into a personal dashboard page so that they can track, edit, and view their listings over time.

It is the mission of Dance/NYC to strengthen professional dance in the five boroughs of New York City and to serve as spokesperson on behalf of the field to the media, to the non-profit sector, to local and state government, and to the field itself. This is accomplished through three focus areas: advocacy, communications, and services to the field. Dance/NYC prides itself on supporting and nurturing the future of dance.
