Actors Michael Cumpsty, Robert Stanton, and Wendy Rich Stetson will be performing a dramatic reading of letters, reviews, and writings by Liszt and his contemporaries as part of a Discovery Day dedicated to composer/pianist Franz Liszt. The reading offers an insight into Liszt's personality, his virtuosity, his composing, his teaching, and much more. Carnegie Hall celebrates the 200th anniversary year of this legendary figure in music history on Saturday, January 29, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Weill Recital Hall. Led by noted musicologist and Liszt scholar Alan Walker, the day will also include a panel discussion as well as musical performances by soprano Angela Meade, and pianists Gregory DeTurck and Bradley Moore. Carnegie Hall's Director of Artistic Planning, Jeremy Geffen, serves as the event's moderator and is joined by Mr. Walker and noted American pianist and author Charles Rosen. Mr. Rosen studied piano with Moriz Rosenthal, a former student of Liszt himself.
