Creative Team Set for Columbia Stages' The Wild Party

The creative and production team behind the Columbia Stages production of The Wild Party has been announced.

The show, which features music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, as well as book by LaChiusa and George C. Wolfe based on a poem by Joseph Moncure March, will run at the Theatre at Riverside Church, at 91 Claremont Ave, April 18-22. The creative and production team are as follows:

Director Saheem Ali, a Columbia University Fellowship Winner, also directed Spring Awakening (Northeastern University), One Hundred Years of Solitude, In the Bar of a Tokyo Hotel, The Seagull (Columbia University), Romeo & Juliet (Commonwealth Shakespeare Company), and The Hairy Ape (Northeastern University).

Costume Designer Jason A. Bishop worked on Le Nozze di Figaro and Present Laughter (University of Washington, Seattle); Honk! (Theatre IV, Richmond – Pheobe winner); The Crucible (Pheobe winner) and The Laramie Project (Barksdale Theatre).  

Sound Designer Andy Leviss enjoyed national tours of The Full Monty (asst. sound engineer) and Sesame Street Live (sound engineer). He also served as associate sound designer and engineer for the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) productions of Virgins and Magpie.

Set Designer Tim McMath has worked at Playhouse on the Square, in Memphis, TN; the Barksdale Theatre and the Firehouse Theatre Project, both in Richmond, VA; Theatre Schmeater in Seattle, WA; and Theatre for a New City, NYC

Choreographer Andrew Parkhurst served as assistant choreographer to Rob Ashford on Curtains (SDCF Observership) and was "Dance Captain" in the original cast of Mamma Mia!

Music Director Micah Young's credits include The Rocky Horror Show, Once Upon a Mattress, The Wizard of Oz, and The Last Five Years (Manhattan School of Music).

Also behind the production of The Wild Party are Dean A. Carpenter (General Manager), Rashad V. Chambers (Associate Producer), Heather Davidson (Production Stage Manager), and Wei-Ming Liu (Dramaturg).

Columbia Stages is the producing arm of the Oscar Hammerstein II Center for Theatre Studies of Columbia University's School of the Arts.   Columbia Stages presents a season of graduate actor and director productions as well as an annual festival of new plays by emerging playwrights.
