Creative Capital, an Arts Writers Grant Program, heads into their second decade with over $8 million of grants distributed to fund artists' projects. Since 1999, more than 40 projects have premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Additionally, the organization's grant recipients have achieved 7 MoMa premieres, as well as several presented works at the Kennedy Center for the Arts, Tate Modern, the Venice Biennale, the Public Theater, and Broadway.

Creative Capital is a unique organization in its ability to use both non-profit and for-profit tactics. Most non-profit organizations, particularly in the Arts, are only able to distribute occasional, small grants. The money that Creative Capital distributes to grantees is given in small increments. Over time, the organization supports a recipient with funds totaling up to $50,000. Creative Capital receives the majority of their funding through The Warhol Foundation. The foundation, which has pledged $15 million to CC for the next 10 years, helps to fund their downtown Gotham headquarters.

Creative Capital is the only national grant and artist service organization accepting open applications. The organization supports projects in five disciplines: Emerging Fields, Film/Video, Innovative Literature, Performing and Visual Arts. In addition to their Grant Funding Program, Creative Capital provides workshops, counseling and career development services.

According to Variety, Lisa Kron, writer and star of the 2006 play, WELL, was able to pay Creative Capital back for the monetary support received from the organization. In addition to her Broadway run, Kron's other endeavors include the documentaries 'Trembling Before God' and 'The Weather Underground'.

In its 10 years of existence, Creative Capital artists have presented at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Berlin Film Festival, The Kitchen, the Park Avenue Armory, Art Basel Miami Beach, Wexner Center for the Arts, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and the ICA Boston. Grantees have gone on to receive 41 Guggenheim Fellowships, 24 National Endowment for the Arts grants, 17 Alpert Awards, 2 MacArthur Fellowships, 15 United States Artists Fellowships, 9 Rome Prizes, 3 Academy Award nominations, a Tony Award nomination, Grammy nominations and an Emmy Award.
