Crazy for the Dog - a new dark comedy written by Christopher Boal and
directed by Eric Parness - will be given a 7-week commercial Off-Broadway extension by Rachel Reiner Productions LLC in association with Jean Cocteau Repertory with performances resuming July 11 at the Bouwerie Lane Theatre (330 Bowery) in Manhattan.
The play "is a twisting, turning new dark comedy that exposes one family's deepest secret, a secret that binds together two siblings even as it threatens to destroy them. Racing through a lifetime of lies and pent-up blame, they cross New York to save not only a defenseless dog, but also their troubled relationship," state press notes.
Directed by Eric Parness, the cast of Crazy for the Dog features Patrick Melville, Wrenn Schmidt, Ryan Tramont, and Christine Verleny. The design team includes Matthew Allar (Set Design), Sidney Shannon (Costume Design), Pamela Kupper (Lighting Design), and Nick Moore (Sound Design).
Boal is the creator and author of The Continuing Adventures of Dick Danger, a late-night comedy/adventure serial which ran for two and a half years in New York. Boal's short film Walking Charley is the winner of two Aurora Awards and has been featured in a number of prominent film festivals. He is a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop, and a former member of Curt Dempster's playwrights lab at Ensemble Studio Theatre.
Crazy for the Dog performances resume on July 11 and run through August 26 at
the Bouwerie Lane Theatre (330 Bowery). Performances for the Off-Broadway
extension run Tuesdays through Fridays at 8:00pm and Saturdays at 2:00pm and
8:00pm. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online at www.crazyforthedog.tix.com or by calling the Bouwerie Lane Theatre box office at 212-677-0060 x16.
