Coyote REP proudly announces their next project, currently in development; a play about a young breast cancer survivor and the particular challenges she faces in light of her age, raising her young child, and the severity of this disease. This event will raise funds for Coyote REP to develop this piece and to raise awareness for the Young Survivors Coalition.

The evening will involve a reading of excerpts from the piece as well as from the blog on which it is based, musical entertainment, speeches from breast cancer survivors, a cocktail reception and an auction.

We are channeling our art to help change social beliefs, attitudes and the behaviors around this disease. We also hope to bring awareness to the issues of funding and research for pre- menopausal breast cancer patients and a cure for this disease, while telling the compelling story of a unique and wonderful individual; Anna Warren Schumacher.

About Anna: Anna is 30-something southern gal living a lovely life in Seattle. After graduating from the College of Charleston with a degree in Theatre, she headed to Seattle to pursue a career as a professional actress. She signed with Topo Swope Talent in 2000. After spending several years acting professionally she married and settled into "adulthood." On October 6th of 2006, Anna heard the words that would shape her life forever: "I'm so sorry, but it is cancer." Anna was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Silas, her newborn son, was 6 months old. Anna had just turned 32. No family history. No warning. No immediate cure. After a mastectomy, chemo, radiation, reconstruction (which included removing the "healthy" breast), and physical therapy, Anna is forging ahead and living her "new normal." She is an active member of The Young Survival Coalition and has been an advocate for young survivors through volunteer work; walking The Breast Cancer 3-day and Race for the Cure, speaking publicly about the plight of the enigma that IS a young woman with breast cancer and raising awareness through her blog: http://dorcasanna.blogspot.com . She was named Puget Sound Affiliate's New Balance Survivor of the Year for 2009.
