GuerriLA Theatre's production of An Evening of Shel's Shorts at the Kutting Room

Santa Monica ï¿? "Signs of the Times - an Evening of Shel's Shorts" for a limited engagement of 12 performances only - Friday, July 23 to Saturday, August 28 will premiere at The Kutting Room in Santa Monica. This 80-minute serio-comedy, written by Shel Silverstein, is comprised of nine short plays and is presented by the GuerriLA Theatre and directed by Pamela Dresser. Doors open at 7:15 for complimentary beverages.

Among the outrageous characters in Shel's Shorts, are a woman at an exclusive beach resort who argues that her dog is actually her husband while the manager insists there are "No Dogs Allowed"; an existential waitress who refuses to explain her "No Skronking" sign and two men who debate the precise meaning of abandonment while deciding whether or not to enter a portal over which hangs the sign "Abandon all Hope Ye Who Enter Here." In these mini plays Silverstein combines his sardonic sense of humor with his biting wit to show us the darker and sometimes twisted side of everyday life.

GuerriLA Theatre performs at benefits for charitable organizations, at university and private film schools, and at theatrical events. We also present unique "House Performances" monthly at our beautiful location in the Hollywood Hills.

With the flexibility of short, individual plays, we are easily coupled with other types of entertainment. The entire program, or a shortened version, can be adapted to fit the host's requirements.

Currently offered up is Shel's Shorts, a collection of nine plays by Shel Silverstein, and an original production, Show Me the Love!!!. Check our performance calendar for upcoming dates.
