Country Music Legend Dolly Parton Plans Dance Album Focused on LGBT Pride

Billboard.com reports that legendary country music star Dolly Parton has plans to make a new dance album that will focus on LGBT pride.

"At some point I would like to do a dance record and I have several songs that are very positive towards the gay community," the 68-year-old said at a press conference. "I have a song called 'Just A Wee Bit Gay.' It's a great little dance tune, it's funny and it's got a lot of comic in it... I do write a lot of songs along those lines with people that are different and are just themselves."

Parton has long been known as a supporter of the gay community as well as same-sex marriage and has even confessed to secretly entering a celebrity drag queen look-alike competition which she lost. "It's a good thing I was a girl or I'd be a drag queen," she quipped.

Parton wrote the music and lyrics for the 2009 Broadway musical adaptation of 9 to 5. She recently starred on the big screen playing grandmother to BONNIE & CLYDE's Jeremy Jordan in 'Joyful Noise'.

Parton is the most honored female country performer of all time. Achieving 25 RIAA certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, she has had 25 songs reach #1 on the Billboard Country charts, 41 career top 10 country albums and 110 career charted singles. All-inclusive sales of singles, albums, hits collections, paid digital downloads and compilation usage have reportedly topped a staggering 100 million records world-wide.

She has garnered 7 Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, 5 Academy of Country Music Awards, 3 American Music Awards and is one of only five female artists to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award, among many more.
