Costa Mesa Girl Scouts Win Broadway Patch Contest

The national winner of the 2005 Girl Scouts' Design Your Way to Broadway patch contest is Troop #1454 from Costa Mesa, CA.

In April 2005, Girl Scout Councils in Broadway Across America cities were asked to participate in the patch design contest; entries were received from Appleton, Wisconsin; Costa Mesa, California; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Houston, Texas; Miami Beach, Florida; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; New Orleans, Louisiana; Palm Beach, Florida; and San Antonio, Texas.

Supervised by Troop Leader Liz Sanders, Cadette Troop 1454 in Anaheim, Service Unit 1 of the Girl Scout Council of Orange County currently has seven girls, most of who have been in the troop since kindergarten. All of the troop members have been in plays and musicals through school or other organizations and love Broadway. Costa Mesa's patch will be produced and distributed to Girl Scouts attending Broadway Across America shows in the 2005-2006 season.

As finalists, the following patch designers and troops from each of the ten local markets will receive tickets to a Broadway show in her area in the 2005- 2006 season, show merchandise and a pizza party. The finalist entries from each city are Troop #128 from Appleton, WI for Patch 1, Troop #1454 from Costa Mesa, CA with Patch 2, Troop #564 from Fort Lauderdale, FL for Patch 3, The Juliette girls from Houston, TX for Patch 4, Troop #48 from Miami Beach, FL for Patch 5, Troop #863 from Milwaukee, WI for Patch 6, Troop #377 from Minneapolis, MI for Patch 7, Troop #1210 from New Orleans, LA for Patch 8, Troop #114 from Palm Beach, FL for Patch 9 and Troop #1981 from San Antonio, TX for Patch 10.
