Corona Works presents the world premiere of THORNS OF THE CROWN. Directed by Alessandra Corona and choreography and staging by Ramon Oller the show will be presented September 9 & 10 at 7:30 PM at Sheen Center for Thought & Culture/The Black Box Theater, 18 Bleecker Street.
THORNS OF THE CROWN is a new dance/theater work created by Spain's Ramon Oller, inspired by the most powerful of Shakespeare's tragedies.
Director, Alessandra Corona, a native of Cagliari Italy (Sardinia) danced with Ballet Hispanico for 12 years, appearing as a principal in their regular NY seasons and on tour throughout the U.S., Europe, and South America, originating roles in ballets by Ramon Oller,
Ann Reinking, Vicente Nebrada,
Christopher Gillis,
Graciela Daniele, David Rousseau, and others.
Ann Reinking selected Alessandra to dance for 2 years in the international touring company of "Fosse," and in the
City Center Encores production of the
Richard Rodgers musical "No Strings." Alessandra was trained in ballet at the National Ballet Academy in Rome, and in the techniques of Graham, Limon, Cunningham, and Jazz at the
Renato Greco School.
Ramon Oller trained in his native Barcelona, receiving several awards for his choreography in Italy and Spain. He has distinguished himself as a choreographer with works created for companies around the world, including Ballet Hispanico, the Andalusian Centre of dance, the National Ballet of Spain, the Compania Nacional de Danza, and more.
