Corey Boardman, who created the role of Matthew in the Detroit and Des Moines productions of Altar Boyz, will take over the role in the New York company for two weeks only, beginning March 20th.

Altar Boyz, the acclaimed musical comedy at Dodger Stages, winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical Off-Broadway, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary off-Broadway. "Full of sharp parody, sinfully spectacular dancing, and irreverent humor, this spoof about a heavenly guy-group is adored by audiences and critics alike. With an extraordinary mix of side-splitting songs convincing enough to be played on MTV, uncontrollable laughs and lighthearted fun, this award-winning and totally original new musical is 90 minutes of pure delight that's suitable for all ages and will have the whole family laughing and singing along," according to press notes.

Altar Boyz opens April 12th at ChungMu Art Hall, Seoul, Korea; a national tour kicks off in the fall; it will play Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, among other cities.

Hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Boardman most recently appeared as Matthew in Altar Boyz when it toured Detroit, MI & Des Moines, Iowa. He has appeared in two independent films as well as multiple regional commercials and educational films. His stage credits include regional productions of Oklahoma!, The Real Inspector Hound, and The Outsiders.

Altar Boyz is directed by Stafford Arima, choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, and features a score by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker, as well as a book by Kevin Del Aguila. The show currently features Andrew C. Call as Luke, Tyler Maynard as Mark, Dennis Moench as Abraham and Clyde Alves as Juan.
