Coram Boy stars Uzo Aduba, Bill Camp, Charlotte Parry and Wayne Wilcox recently sat down with WWOR-TV's Pat Collins for a special segment airing tonight, Monday, May 14th in the 10:30 p.m. half hour on WWOR-TV (Channel 9 in the Metropolitan area).
"Pat Collins speaks with four of the Coram Boy ensemble cast of 40 about their experience performing in the epic theatrical experience and the emotionally powerful effect Coram Boy has had on audiences nightly at the Imperial Theatre," state press materials.
The American premiere production of Coram Boy opened at Broadway's Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street) on May 2nd after beginning previews on April 16th. Staged and co-designed by Melly Still, and adapted by Helen Edmundson from Jamila Gavin's award-winning novel, the show previously played two sold-out engagements at The National Theatre of Great Britain and was awarded the 2006 Time Out Best Play Award. The opening night party was held at Tavern on the Green.
Press notes describe Coram Boy as "the tale of two orphans at the Coram Hospital for Deserted Children: Toby, saved from an African slave ship and Aaron, the abandoned son of the heir to a great estate. A story of fathers and sons, set in the dark heart of 18th-century England, Coram Boy is filled with danger and excitement."The show is designed by Ti Green and Melly Still, with lighting design by Paule Constable, original music by Adrian Sutton and sound design by Christopher Shutt. The music director is Constantine Kitsopoulos and the fight director is Thomas Schall.
