The Advocate writes that Kinky Boots cast members Eugene Barry-Hill and Timothy Ware were married during the week that the Broadway production went dark (May 8-13) to make room for Univision's upfront presentations.
The couple, who met 10 years ago during a touring production, also took the chance to go on their honeymoon while Kinky Boots was on hiatus.
On his Facebook page one day before their wedding on May 8, Barry-Hill wrote:
"24 hrs from now, I will be Mr. Barry Eugene Ware-Hill. Yup, it's still hyphenated. The road to happiness can be long and tortured. I had given up hope for love, joy and real peace. I tell Timothy Ware all the time 'you saved my life' but I don't know if anyone outside of myself can really grasp the despair and loneliness that inhabited most of my life. Growing up, we can't help but model ourselves after the relationships and marriages that we see, but now it has become my reality and I will rejoice in my new status as husband and family IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORDS. Thank you friends and family, for your support, encouragement, advice, loyalty, and most importantly your love. We will be surrounded by people who love us. They will be witness to our own personal miracle. Whether you can be there with us in person or just in spirit, we will feel you. Tears will be shed, but they will be the good kind. I have found my place in this Universe and it is at Tim's side. I need not be anywhere else."
Earlier this week on May 15, Ware shared his own message of love:
"A week ago today, the most magical thing happened to me. I was blessed with the opportunity to marry the love of my life. It had to be magic, because there was this Houdini-esque straight jacket bound to the pulse of my heart and only love could set it free. It was woven with the synthetic fibers of fear, religious rayon and polyester people.
I was taught that God is LOVE, but the type of LOVE I possess wasn't God. For most of my life I allowed this thread of lies to stitch itself to the fabric of who I thought I would become. Swatches of foe silks clung to my chest protesting, "I love you, but... I love you, but..." But pure love didn't reveal itself to me until I walked through fire and saw what remained. As I crawled through the flames, the synthetics pieces burned quickly. They shriveled into an ashy pile revealing their toxic composition.Congratulations from the whole BWW team!
