Seth Rogen, an executive producer of the upcoming AMC pilot PREACHER turned to Twitter to reveal the news that actor Dominic Cooper will star as Jesse Custer in the project.

PREACHER centers on Custer, a small town Texas preacher who, nearly at his faith's end, finds himself merged with a supernatural entity, Genesis, birthed from both an angel and a demon. Imbued with the word of God, Jesse hits the road, reunited with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and joined by a rowdy Irish vampire, Cassidy, to track down God himself and force him to explain why he abandoned his duties in Heaven.
Cooper joins previously announced cast members Joseph Gilgun as the vampire Cassidy, Ruth Negga as his ex-girlfriend Tulip, Ian Colletti as Arseface, and Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, love interest of Jesse's.
Cooper starred in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Dead Man Down, Reasonable Doubt, Need for Speed and November Man, His other film credits include Summer in February, My Week with Marilyn, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Devil's Double, and The History Boys, in which he also appeared on Broadway. He also starred in the film adaptation of the stage musical MAMMA MIA!
