CONFESSIONS OF A MORMON BOY will end its current Off-Broadway engagement at the Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam Street) on Sunday, April 16, it has been announced by the show's producers.
The producers of CONFESSIONS OF A MORMON BOY are in the planning stages for a national tour that could take the show to Boston, Los Angeles, and Montreal as early as the summer of 2006. Prior to its Off-Broadway debut this year CONFESSIONS OF A MORMON BOY was a hit in Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Miami, and Salt Lake City.
CONFESSIONS OF A MORMON BOY - a solo play written and performed by Steven Fales, and directed by Tony Award-winner Jack Hofsiss ("The Elephant Man") - is the compelling and inspiring true story told with humor, song and the Book of Mormon -- concerning a young gay man's captivating journey through excommunication from the Mormon church, divorce, male prostitution and drug abuse, as he struggles to reclaim himself, his children and his "Donny Osmond smile."
A breakout hit during the 2004 NY International Fringe Festival -- for which the play received a coveted Overall Excellence Award -- CONFESSIONS OF A MORMON BOY has been praised as "compelling confessional theater" by the New York Times; "The stuff of great theater…riveting" by the Associated Press; and "Enormously appealing…as moving as it is funny." by Howard Kissel of the New York Daily News.
CONFESSIONS OF A MORMON BOY will have played 12 previews and 80 performances when it closes on April 16.
CONFESSIONS OF A MORMON BOY will hold a final "Gay Singles Night" on Thursday, April 13.
