Coney Island USA, the non-profit multi-arts center dedicated to the economic and cultural revitalization of its iconic neighborhood, has announced its Spring 2019 gala, set to take place on Saturday, March 23 at the New York Aquarium's Ocean Wonders exhibit. Proceeds from the benefit will help fund the organization's signature programming - including the Mermaid Parade, Burlesque at the Beach, and The Coney Island Circus Sideshow - as well as structural repairs to its landmarked headquarters at 1208 Surf Avenue, home to the beloved Freak Bar, the Coney Island Museum, and the Sideshows by the Seashore theater.

Surrounded by the majestic beauty of a giant coral reef, 18 kinds of sharks and rays, and more than 115 marine species, guests will experience the breadth of Coney Island's magic all in one unforgettable place. The evening will feature performances and entertainment showcasing the true spirit of the famed amusement district, as well as food, wine, beer, speciality cocktails, and gifts from local sponsors.

"We are thrilled to be holding our spring gala at the Ocean Wonders exhibit this year. Both our organization and the aquarium are true New York City icons, and the pairing makes perfect sense," said Dick D. Zigun, Coney Island USA's Founder and Artistic Director. "Coney Island has long been defined by its colorful characters, and this event is a rare chance to come face to face with all of them - even the ones who live underwater. By joining us at the gala, you're helping to preserve the rich legacy of this incredible seaside neighborhood - and protect its bright future."

Gala supporters include Babeland, Barrow's Intense, the Coney Island Brewing Co., Deep Eddy Vodka, Denny Daniel's Museum of Interesting Things,, Doc Herson's Natural Spirits, Duchess of Desserts, The Green Fairy, Leidenfrost Vineyards, Materials for the Arts, the New York Department of Cultural Affairs, One Brick, Popcorn Custom Products, Roxy's Tee Parlour, Sourpuss, and Sparkling Ice.
