An array of theater stars will perform the songs that they sang in original Broadway productions in a concert that will be presented as the finale of the First Annual Broadway Cabaret Festival on Sunday, October 23rd at 3 PM at Town Hall (123 W. 43rd St.).
Hosted by Scott Seigel (the Broadway by the Year and Broadway Unplugged concerts), Broadway Originals will feature Karen Akers (Nine), Ann Hampton Callaway (Swing), Liz Callaway (Baby), Chuck Cooper (The Life), Melissa Errico (Amour), Penny Fuller (Applause), Randy Graff (A Class Act), Mary Louise (David Merrick's all-black production of Hello, Dolly!), Priscilla Lopez (A Chorus Line), Jack Noseworthy (Sweet Smell of Success), Evan Pappas (My Favorite Year), Austin Pendleton (Fiddler on the Roof), Alice Playten (Henry, Sweet Henry), Jimmy Randolph (David Merrick's all-black production of Guys and Dolls), Lee Roy Reams (42nd Street), Sarah Rice (Sweeney Todd), Pat Suzuki (Flower Drum Song), Jim Walton (Merrily We Roll Along), Walter Willison (Two by Two) and Rachel York (City of Angels). "Luck be a Lady," "Miracle of Miracles," "Not a Day Goes By," and "Blues in the Night" will be among the songs performed. The musical director of the concert will be Bobby Peaco and the show will be directed by Dan Foster.
The Festival will begin with A Tribute to Kander and Ebb on Friday, October 21 at 8 PM and will feature more than a dozen stars, including Brent Barrett, Rachel York, and Cheyenne Jackson. The musical director will be Jeffrey Saver and Denis Jones will direct. On Saturday night, October 22nd, Taboo star Euan Morton and Brooklyn: The Musical star Eden Espinosa take the stage to perform their own one-act concerts devoted exclusively to classic Broadway show tunes. The evening is called Euan Morton and Eden Espinosa Sing Broadway!
