The Association for a Better New York (ABNY) presents award to NYC Parks honoring its efforts to create a brighter, greener future for NYC.
This evening NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP will be accepting the Spirit of ABNY Award from the Association for a Better New York (ABNY) honoring NYC Parks' Community Parks Initiative. Each year The ABNY Foundation honors leaders and organizations who have provided a distinguished level of service to New York.
"I am thrilled that ABNY has recognized the Community Parks Initiative, a centerpiece of NYC Parks' commitment to a green and equitable New York," said Commissioner Silver. "It is enormously gratifying and encouraging to receive ABNY's gracious recognition as we work together to create a bright, green future for all New Yorkers."
Launched in 2014, the Community Parks Initiative (CPI) injects $130 million in capital investment to 35 historically underserved neighborhood parks across New York City. Following the completion of community input scoping meetings in March, NYC Parks is now bringing enhanced programming and targeted physical improvements throughout CPI Zones.
