ComedIan Shawn Wickens will tell jokes and auction off some of his paintings in front of an audience (and streaming live) Tuesday, March 14 at 8:30pm. A portion of the art auction proceeds will benefit the Countdown Theater, hosting the event at 141 S. 5th St., Office West, Unit #2. Brooklyn, New York 11211. Tickets are $10. More info at http://www.countdowntheater.com.

Wickens, a retired New York City window cleaner, is no stranger to experimental theater. He is co-founder of Bad Theater Fest which highlights performances on the more unusual and eclectic end of the spectrum. Recently he stayed awake a full 24 hrs to write all new material and then perform in a sleep-deprived and exhausted state. His interactive comedy show Good Joke / Bad Joke Bingo has been performed in Baltimore, Princeton, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, New Orleans and Hartford. The Sea Tea Comedy Theater of Hartford said of the show: "Shawn Wickens does for Comedy what Monty Python did for the Holy Grail."

A life-long painting hobbyist, and self- described of having "adequate skill", all the art will be priced to move, most works starting price set around five dollars. "I recently just started painting more and more. I've only sold a painting of a 'CHEWBACCA ELVIS' and one of the robot GORT from the 1950s sci-fi classic film ' The Day the Earth Stood Still'. I need to purge my inventory before I can work on anything new."

Interested parties unable to make the performance can watch live through the Countdown Theater Facebook page:

Wickens is co-founder a comedy performer at the Magnet Theater. He previously Interviewed more than a thousand people for his first book, How to Lose Your Virginity, a collection of shocking and humorous loss of virginity stories, and his writing has been honored by the LA Horror Film Festival, 48 Hr Film Festival, and The Paley Center for Media.

Countdown Theater is a roaming, improv- based pop-up space currently based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The founders and artistic directors of Countdown Theater are Kelly Buttermore and Justin Peters of the independent touring improv duo From Justin to Kelly. Since 2014, they've performed and taught over 100 shows and workshops in 22 states.
