BATSU! NYC, the original "East Village Sensation" (Asian Fusion) live Japanese Game Show has a new Company Manager and they didn't have to go far to find him. One of the most senior performers in the NYC production is Whit Baldwin, who after joining the cast just a few weeks after the show opened in January of 2011, has become a leader both on and off the stage. Having served as the "Captain of the Captains" over the last year or so, Mr. Baldwin has now been officially named Company Manager.
The day to day operations and the management of both cast and show are now in the hands of an insider who knows the show about as well as the show's creators, a huge upside as BATSU! NYC is now in its 8th year and approaching the incredible 1,000 performance mark this fall. One of the contributing factors of the show's continued success is that as BATSU! gains popularity, the show gets better.
"I've had the pleasure of performing on some of the nations best stages from Baltimore Center Stage, to Walnut Street in Philadelphia, to sharing the stage with Lin Manuel Miranda in Encores! production of Merrily We Roll Along right here in NYC. But the thing I am most proud of in my career" Mr. Baldwin explains, "is having been a part of building BATSU! NYC since some of its earliest days. I am excited to take on this new role with all of its challenges and responsibilities, continuing to grow within this incredible show and incredible company."
BATSU! expanded in the summer of 2016 to Chicago where it's been hailed as "Gonzo" by the Chicago Tribune (Chris Jones) and described as "the most mildly perverse, alcohol fueled, comically salacious fun one could hope for" by Third Coast Review. BATSU! is not your ordinary dinner theater entertainment. Four warriors compete in comedic challenges to avoid electric shocks, paintballs, a giant egg-smashing chicken, and many more hilarious jaw-dropping punishments that were called "Hilarious" by DNA Info, PIX 11, NY1, and Meredith Vieira. The cast of BATSU! in NYC and Chicago are members of the acclaimed comedy group Face Off Unlimited, who the New York Times has declared "Really Funny."
