Comedian Mike Epps has responded to claims that he attacked a local man. An Atlanta comedian, Lavar Walker, states he was attacked by Epps after he had mocked Epps on Instagram, playing on a fued between Epps and comedian Kevin Hart. Walker states that Epps heard about the video and confronted him outside Uptown Comedy Corner in northwest Atlanta on Saturday night.
Walker states that Epps punched him in the face right when he stepped outside of the club, according to a police report. Walker said Epps, along with two other men, then repeatedly hit him, slammed him into Epps' Ferrari, kicked him in the stomach and threw his cell phone on the roof of the venue.
On Sunday night Walker, with his attorney Chris Stewart, spoke with 11Alive News. He claims he had never met or talked to Epps, but that he did receive a voice message from him soon after his video hit Instagram that said Epps wanted to meet him at Uptown. Walker said, "He struck me. He struck me and two other guys he had with me struck me, hospitalized me and beat me. All over a joke." According to the police report, Walker suffered cuts to his head and heavy bruising, and was treated at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Another local comedian, Bo Micadelic, was outside the club when the altercation took place. Micadelic said he never saw Epps hit Walker, but said it was clear that Epps was behind the attack. Micadelic said, "He was just standing there like an overseer. Before [Walker] could get close to Epps, a bodyguard or friend punched him. When he fell to the ground, the same dude who punched him kicked him in the head."
Epps responded to these claims on Twitter. He tweeted three times. The first tweet said, "I wanna apologize to all my fans ,for the false that's put on me right now !" In his second tweet, he said, "Bandits never attack a empty boat! Iam blessed". In the third tweet, he said "Can't believe everything you read folks".
