Comedian Forfeits Appearance on @midnight Following Offensive Tweets

Sometimes fully-excercising freedom of speech comes at a cost.

Comedian Artie Lange has learned that the hard way, following a string of Tweets on Nov. 4 directed at ESPN reporter's Cari Champion of "First Take" that the network found sexually and racially offensive.

Tweets (@artiequitter) included,

"The chick on ESPNs First Take is so f***in hot!"

ESPN released an official statement to to Sports Illustrated saying, "His comments were reprehensible and no one should be subjected to such hateful language. They objectify and demean one of our valued employees under the thin guise of 'comedy' and are offensive to all of us. We will not dignify them with any other comment."

Shortly following, Comedy Central said they would no longer let Lange appear on @MIDNIGHT on Nov. 6.

Lange tweeted, "It's official. Comedy Central will not let me on @midnight Comedy Central has always been good to me & I don't blame them. Not worth it!"

He also tweeted a string of apologies, including, "I'm a comedian. Sometimes I'm funny! For the record my moms disgusted w the tweets. But if I based my humor on my mom I'd be broke"
