Fantasia has 3 nominations for "Best Female R&B Vocal Performance" for "When I See U," "Best Contemporary R&B Album" for "Fantasia," and "Best R&B Song" for "When I See U." Chaka Khan has 2 nominations for "Best R&B Performance by A Duo or Group with Vocals" for "Disrespectful," and "Best R&B Album" for "Funk This." BeBe Winans has 1 nomination for "Best Traditional Gospel Album" for "Cherch."
Fantasia's finale critically acclaimed performance in The Color Purple will be Sunday, January 6, 2008, at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). Chaka Khan and BeBe Winans will make their Broadway debuts in The Color Purple Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
Now in its 3rd smash year on Broadway, The Color Purple recouped its entire $11 million investment in less than a year. The Color Purple 's first North American Tour kicked off in Chicago on April 17, 2007 at The Cadillac Palace Theatre where it played through September 30, 2007. The tour will then continue on to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tempe, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Baltimore and Philadelphia.
