Kingsley Leggs, who portrays "Mister" in the hit Broadway show, The Color Purple, will perform for one night only at The Triad Theater (158 West 72nd Street) on Monday, August 21, 2006 at 9pm.
The evening will include special guest Anika Ellis, and will feature Rhett George and Maia Nkenge Wilson; Ellis and Wilson are featured in The Color Purple, as well. Musical Direction is by Jeff Waxman.
"For one night only, Leggs will take the stage at The Triad Theatre for his unique blend of R&B, blues and original music. Accompanied by piano, bass, drums and guitar, the evening will also feature a tribute to the legendary Sammy Davis Jr.," state press notes on the show.
Leggs' other Broadway credits include Miss Saigon and the tours of Miss Saigon (1st Natl., Toronto, Asian Tour, UK Tour), Ragtime (Toronto, LA, Vancouver), It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues, and Forbidden Hollywood (Japan). Regional credits include The Full Monty, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Chasing Nicolette, Violet, Almost Heaven and Cry the Beloved Country. He has received an LA Ovation Award and nominations for his work in Dreamgirls (Curtis) and Ragtime (Coalhouse).
