The Tony Awards® Administration Committee has announced Cleveland Play House (CPH) as this year's recipient for the Regional Theatre Tony Award.

The Regional Theatre Tony Award will be presented at the 2015 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 7th. The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

The Cleveland Play House couldn't be more thrilled!:

"This is just a thrilling moment for the city of Cleveland, and all of the northeastern Ohio region, and of course for all of us at Cleveland Playhouse. When you think about all of the creativity and hard work that goes into creating a show, and then you multiply that by the number of shows in a season, and then again by 100 seasons, and you think about all of that hard work...this award is a HUGE recognition for all of the tens of thousands of actors, directors, designers and technicians, staff, and donors who have contributed to our past and our ongoing success. We were elated to get the news. We were all really hoping for it, but it was an amazing and thrilling moment- we're still riding high! There's no better way that we can think of to kick off this centennial season than with this incredible recognition!"

Cleveland Play House was founded in 1915 and is America's first professional regional theatre. Throughout its rich history, CPH has remained dedicated to its mission to inspire, stimulate and entertain diverse audiences in Northeast Ohio by producing plays and theatre education programs of the highest professional standards. More than 12 million people have attended over 1,300 CPH productions, including more than 100 world and/or American premieres. Today, Cleveland Play House looks toward its centennial while performing in three state-of-the art venues at Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland.
