Fit for a Queen is inspired by the life of Hatshepsut, the only woman who ruled as a pharaoh in ancient Egypt. The most powerful person to agitate for revolution in opposition to Hatshepsut's rule will be her own daughter. Full of intrigue, farce, and sexual politics, Fit for a Queen is a tragicomedy of epic proportions that highlights a largely unknown story of an African woman who took power and maintained control of the most advanced and powerful civilization the ancient world had yet known. The play is slated for a full production at The Classical Theatre of Harlem in September, 2016. Thanks to the Jerry A. Tishman Playwrights Creativity Fund, Scherman Foundation's Katharine S. & Axel Rosin Fund and the Time Warner Foundation.
