Classical Theater of Harlem Holds Anniversary Party On 12/8

The Classical Theatre of Harlem, a not-for-profit theatre dedicated to producing theatre that truly reflects the diversity of ideas and racial tapestry that is New York City, will hold a party celebrating their 10th Anniversary Season.

Hosted by Kathryn Leary, the party will be at B. Smith's Restaurant, located at 320 West 46th Street. Honorary Committee members include Avery Brooks, Phylicia Rashad, Melvin Van Peebles, Lisa Gay Hamilton, and Michael Ealy.
The event is part of Kathryn Leary and B. Smith's "Second Mondays" series.

The event will be held on December 8, 2008. Doors open at 6:00pm. Entertainment, raffle and special events continue until 10:00pm.
$50 per person admission, or $110 for admission and a CTH season subscription.

Since being founded in 1999, the Classical Theatre of Harlem has staged nearly forty productions that have included numerous works by Shakespeare, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Euripides' Medea and Trojan Women, Melvin Van Peebles' Ain't Supposed To Die A Natural Death, Jean Genet's The Blacks: A Clown Show (4 OBIE Awards), Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard (featuring Earle Hyman), Derek Walcott's Dream on Monkey Mountain, Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot (with Wendell Pierce) and the world premiere of Ty Jones' Emancipation.

Upcoming productions in CTH's 10th Anniversary Season will be Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, Supreme Jealous Divine (an adaptation of Moliere's Tartuffe), and The Great MacDaddy by Paul Carter Harrison. Now through June of 2009, CTH will continue to present their Future Classics Reading Series at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
