Classical pianist, composer and viral YouTube sensation Lionel Yu will bring his latest performance piece "Space to Create" to Merkin Concert Hall, on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:30PM. Performing with Yu in this new musical experience will be award-winning beatboxer Amit. Tickets are $35 and available now at https://www.kaufmanmusiccenter.org/mch/event/musicalbasics-space-to-create/.

After a highly successful debut concert at Carnegie Hall in December, Yu takes another prestigious New York stage, this time blending his classical piano with Amit's beatboxing and elements of hip hop to present "Space to Create." A passionate and powerful piano player, Yu plays with precision, unbridled mastery and incredible dexterity, which New York Music Daily describes as "superhuman technique, crushing volleys of chords and catchy hooks." At Merkin Hall, Yu will fuse his distinct artistry Bangladesh-born Amit, famous for his "dirty bass" and atypical inward K's.

Merkin Concert Hall is located at 129 West 67th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam).

Born in Hangzhou, China and raised in Maryland, Lionel Yu is a classically-trained pianist and composer who runs original YouTube classical music channel MUSICALBASICS, which has garnered over 20 million combined views across his videos. Without a record contract or a manager, Yu has organically become a viral classical music sensation by releasing his original compositions on YouTube and promoting through various social media channels. His "Fires of a Revolution" has received over 3.7 million YouTube views, while his devoted fan base regularly covers Yu's compositions in tribute videos of their own.
