Classic NYC Folk Band The Washington Squares to Reunite at City Winery

GRAMMY-nominated folk band The Washington Squares will reunite for their first concert date in 25 years at New York's City Winery (155 Varick St., NY, NY) on January 10, 2018. Tickets are now on sale HERE.

The beloved band of beatniks, who shared roots in New York's punk scene, helped propel the 1980s folk revival with their driving rhythms and soaring three part harmonies.

Featuring: Lauren Agnelli, guitar and vocals; Tom Goodkind, guitar, bass, banjo and vocals; Billy Ficca (Television), drums; Tony Shanahan (Patti Smith Group) bass and vocals.

Born in 1983 out of a mutual love of traditional folk music, the Washington Squares ... The band released two albums on Gold Castle/Polygram: the GRAMMY-nominated eponymously titled The Washington Squares with their 2ndalbum, Fair and Square. With an international fan base that crossed all lines to include folkie traditionalists, hard core punks and everything in between, The Squares were equally at home playing packed houses with Joan Jett or at the Philadelphia Folk Festival.

Last November, they released Sessions 1983 - 1985, Monsters of Folk: 21 songs with a track featuring Allan Ginsberg, a 14 page booklet, and sing-along sheets at washingtonsquares.com, and in the new year will release Sessions 1985 - 1987 with 27 songs and a track featuring Abbie Hoffman.

They're the group Rolling Stone Magazine called the "Hippest Thing Shaking in New York."
