Tony Award-winning actress and mother Victoria Clark and musical director, Ted Sperling will lend their talents for a one-night concert to benefit the Bank Street School for Children (610 West 112th Street) on Monday, March 23rd at 7PM.
Clark will perform selections from her debut album, Fifteen Seconds of Grace, as well as songs by Ricky Ian Gordon, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Jane Kelly Williams and the American Songbook. Clark will also feature songs from her memorable award -winning performance in Adam Guettel's The Light in the PiazzA. Singer/Songwriter Jane Kelly Williams will join Clark and Sperling as the evening's special guest.
Tickets are priced at $50.00 with all proceeds going to The Bank Street School for children of Manhattan. A wine and cheese reception is scheduled to precede the performance at 6:30PM. For tickets, contact Emma McDowell at The Bank Street School (212) 961 - 3322.
Victoria Clark received a 2005 Tony Award for her performance in The Light in the Piazza and most recently garnered raves for her performances in a one night concert performance of Kurt Weill's The Firebrand of Florence with the Collegiate Chorale (both with Ted Sperling), Night and Day: Rob Fisher Celebrates Cole Porter with David Hyde Pierce and Victoria Clark for Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series, Craig Lucas' PRAYER FOR MY Enemy, Christopher Durang's The Marriage of Bette and Boo and the acclaimed City Center Encores! production of Marc Blitzstein's musical, Juno. Her other New York credits include Follies at City Center, and Broadway productions of Cabaret, Urinetown, Titanic, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Guys and Dolls, and A Grand Night for Singing. Among Clark's screen credits are Cradle Will Rock, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Sweeney Todd in Concert on PBS. Her film credits include The Happening, Cradle Will Rock, and Tickling Leo. Clark serves as a master teacher/guest lecturer for universities across the country.
Ted Sperling is the music director for the current Broadway productions of Guys and Dolls and South Pacific. In 2005, he won Tony and Drama Desk Awards for his orchestrations of The Light in the Piazza, for which he was also music director. Other Broadway and Off-Broadway credits as music director include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Full Monty, How to Succeed in Business..., Kiss of the Spider Woman, My Favorite Year, A Man of No Importance, Wise Guys, A New Brain, Saturn Returns, and Floyd Collins. Sperling's work as a stage director includes Off-Broadway productions of Striking 12 and See What I Wanna See, as well as the world premiere of Charlotte: Life? Or Theater? Mr. Sperling is the recipient of the Shen Family Foundation's Musical Theatre Leadership Award. He currently holds the post of Director of the Music Theater Initiative at the Public Theater.
